Jeera Rice

Jeera Rice is basically, rice flavored with jeera (cumin) and whole garam masala spices. Its generally where whole spices are fried and the rice is cooked along with the spices.
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups Basmati Rice
3 cups Water
2 tsp CUmin Seeds (Jeera)
1 Cinnamom (Dalchini)
2-3 Cloves (Laung)
1 Bay Leaf (Tej Patta)
2-3 petals os Star Anise (Badian)
2 tbsp Oil
2 tsp Ghee
Salt to taste
Method:
- Soak basmati rice for 10-15 minutes.
- Drain all the water.
- Fry the rice with 1/2 tsp ghee in a pan until its dry.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- On a medium flame once the oil is hot add the cumin seeds, and the whole garam masalas.
- Let the cumin get slightly brown and the fragrance of the spices arises from the oil.
- Add the water and salt, bring it to boil.
- Add the soaked rice.
- Once the water tends to decrease, cover and cook for 10-12 minutes on low flame or heat.
- Once done set aside for 2 minutes then serve hot.
