         Poha is one of the easy to cook and healthy breakfast recipe. From Western India, Poha is made from flattened rice. Well, today I am going to share spicy version of the poha recipe. I like it spicy especially when I have it with my Tea. This version of Poha, I am going to share with you today is my Boy friend's recipe. Well, He is a good cook either. You can even add potato to this recipe. In next few blogs I will share different varieties of Poha recipes. So, lets get started.






Ingredients:


Poha (Flattened rice) 1 cup
Onion 1
Green chili 1
Ginger paste 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Red Chili powder 1/2 tsp
Corriander powder 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder 1/2 tsp
Salt To taste
Cilantro 1 Tbsp
Sesame seeds 1 tsp
Fresh lime juice 1 Tbsp



To Temper:

Cumin Seeds 1 Tbsp
Asefetida 1 tsp
Dry red chili 2
Curry leaves 3 to 4
Oil 2 Tbsp




Method:





Take two cups of poha in a strainer and place it under running water for few seconds. Toss well to drain out all excess water and set aside. Sprinkle some water on it and let it soak foe a while.



Heat oil in a pan, add all the ingredients listed above to temper. Add onions, green chili, garlic paste and saute until the onions are translucent.


Now add all the other masalas, salt and cook for a minute.

 


Add the soaked poha, cook for a while. Then add some sesame seeds, freshly squeezed lime juice to it and mix well.



Once its done garnish the Poha with chopped cilantro and serve hot with Tea or Coffee.





 Tips:

  • You can even add vegetables and tomato to this upma.
  • You can omit red chili powder if u don't like it more spicy.
  • For lemon poha, you can add lemon juice while soaking the poha.  
  • You can add and omit masalas according to your spice preference.
